CD Review – Diamond Head – Diamond Head (Dissonance Productions 2016)

The new release that was not to happen actually came to fruition and band founder Brian Tatler stated “I had no interest in doing another record but after working with Ras on the 2014 European tour that suddenly changed.  I wanted to make a record with him.  He’s a confident singer and he’s not trying to fill anyone’s shoes.”  What the self-titled release gives you a throw-back vibe but with a gritty singer. Listening to this release it really makes you listen to the lyrics and the song development. There is nothing thrilly about this release. It is a basic hard rock, riff driven and extremely strong vocally. I can understand by Tatler wanted to put forth the effort of a new release. Seems like a strong chemistry and the vocals indeed pulls everything together. At times the vocals can be overwhelming but it doesn’t pull the songs apart. I found that on the first run of listening to Diamond Head – Diamond Head I did not lose interest in it at all. It kept me wanting to hear what is next. After a few runs I found myself humming along with this release and that is a great thing. It has much potential to be a strong record and to continue to build the name.

What to expect from this release – RIFF RIFF RIFF RIFF RIFF RIFF AND MORE RIFFS!!! Hail to the Riffs! Plus vocally this is a masterpiece. I look forward to more releases with Rasmus down the road. I love that late 70’s guitar riff sounds its raw, enticing and it also reminds me of one of my favorite bands – RIOT.

Thanks for taking a few seconds to read this. I have been with MTRS since its inception. Love doing the live broadcasts and interviewing my hero's and other very interesting people over the decade of this. MTR is my therapy. Have always looked at this site and station as being part of the solution for the artists. We have NEVER pushed our own agenda, it has always been in the name of the bands, the music and the direction in which we have an influence in helping. We are part of the solution. Its simple! We are here to help bands and entertainers succeed. We go way far beyond of what is expected of a station/PR piece.
