Featuring Headline Sets By Both Acts,

Ghostface Killah, Tech N9ne, Chief Keef, & many more!

Saturday, August 5th & Sunday, August 6th at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County, CA

Tickets On Sale Friday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. PT at www.HighandMightyFest.com

This summer will bring the first-ever KROQ Presents High & Mighty Festival. The brainchild of Sublime With Rome and Dirty Heads, the two-day event will make its debut on Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th at Orange County’s beautiful Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA, adjacent to Irvine Lake. Produced by premier music festival production company Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE), Mike “Cheez” Brown, and Bill Hardie, High & Mighty Festival will feature two stages of music performances from top reggae, roots, hip-hop, and rock artists, plus lifestyle vendors, carnival rides and games, and onsite activities in a lush scenic setting, tucked into the mountains of Southern California. Venue capacity has been reduced to 8,000 to allow for easy traffic flow to and from Oak Canyon Park. The expansive oak trees, gorgeous grass, and picturesque lake set the perfect tone for a relaxing time in the shade.

The music lineup for High & Mighty is as follows:

Saturday, August 5th: Sublime With Rome, SOJA, Stick Figure, Method Man & Redman, Magic!, Ghostface Killah, King Lil G, Custom, Landon McNamara and Iya Terra, with more to be announced!

Sunday, August 6th: Dirty Heads, Jurassic 5, Tribal Seeds, Tech N9ne, Chief Keef, Murs, Ballyhoo!, Katastro, Pacific Dub, and Know-Madik, with more to be announced!

Rome Ramirez from Sublime With Rome exclaims, “The secret is out!! Southern California, get ready for High & Mighty!! This festival is extra special to us not only because it’s in our hometown, but because we’re partners in the event! We wanted to create something special for the fans that help make this music become as big as it has, and what better way to do that than to team up with KROQ and throw a massive festival in Orange County? So grab tickets and come celebrate with us!”

Jared Watson from Dirty Heads adds, “We are excited to be putting on our own festival with artists that have influenced us in the past, artists that are influencing us now, and artists that we have come up with. Not only is the lineup insane, but we get to put on a show in our backyard. We get to show people the community that we’ve had the pleasure of being a part of and helping to build.”

Mike “Cheez” Brown, High & Mighty co-producer and manager of both Sublime With Rome and Dirty Heads, says, “I’ve been kicking around this idea for a while with Sublime With Rome and Dirty Heads to do our own thing. With Irvine Meadows closing, we knew Oak Canyon would be the perfect setting for something special for our fans here in Orange County.  Come check it out, it’s going to be memorable.”

High & Mighty co-producer John Reese of SGE says, “I’m stoked to be partnering with Sublime With Rome and Dirty Heads to bring High & Mighty to life. We’re curating a killer summer experience in the solitude of Oak Canyon Park, with plenty of surprises in store for everyone.”

High & Mighty co-producer Bill Hardie adds, “The team we put together for this event is not just flying a flag of convenience.  We live this.  This is our life in black and white.”

A KROQ-FM pre-sale will run on Thursday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. PT at www.kroq.com. Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. PT at www.HighandMightyFest.com. Single-day tickets start at $65.00, plus parking and fees.

Instead we support the scene, our bands, our athletes and our fans. We back athletes so they can make a career out of their passion. We promote concert tours, so our favorite bands can visit your hometown. We celebrate with our fans and riders by throwing parties and making the coolest events we can think of a reality.

FREE PARENT TICKET IS BACK!

FREE PARENT TICKET IS BACK!
Over our 22 years on the road, the Vans Warped Tour has always tried to adapt and change with our fan base. We are now in the very unique position to be able to have fans as young as 13 and as old as 40-45 (shout out to the ’95 vets!)

We have tried to strike the balance, but this year we admit, we tipped too far.  So now we are re-working the Parent Program instead of eliminating it entirely.

1 ticket = 1 parent

(1) parent (age 28 and older) will be permitted to accompany a child (under the age of 16) with a PAID TICKET to the event for FREE. This is a complimentary, non-transferrable wristband; the tour reserves the right to deny entry.

To get the PARENT WRISTBAND the morning of the show, the PARENT must bring their photo ID, the child they are accompanying, and the PAID ticket to the yellow guest list tent by the main gates.

NO EXCEPTIONS – if you do not have all 3 items listed above, we will not provide you with a wristband.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • No switching parents out halfway through the day
  • No older siblings permitted to act as the accompanying adult
  • If you have a non-parental appointed legal guardian, please bring any available documentation the day of the show and we will work with you!

ALREADY BOUGHT A TICKET? – If you are a parent that already bought a ticket and are unable to find another use for it (ie. your child’s friend); please bring the paid ticket with you to the yellow guest list tent the morning of the show.

This year marks the first Blackest Of The Black Destination Festival. The brainchild of Glenn Danzig, the event not only serves as a music festival, but as a cultural experience: an escape. Coming to Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA in Orange County on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th, Blackest Of The Black will host two music stages, curated by Danzig, with performances by some of the heaviest acts around including Danzig, Ministry, Suicidal Tendencies, Atreyu, Vamps, and many more. The festival will be hosted by Full Metal Jackie and will feature camping, along with a number of sinister attractions including Castle Danzig — a fully immersive walkthrough experience of agony, ecstasy and more, all based on the music and graphic novels of Glenn Danzig.

Glenn Danzig says, “I first started Blackest in the early 2000s and finally my full vision is being realized. Get ready for sensory overload, from films to comics to Castle Danzig. This is going to be the real Blackest Of The Black.”

The music lineup for Blackest Of The Black is as follows:

Saturday, May 27: Danzig, Ministry, Vamps, Atreyu, Venom Inc, DevilDriver, Fear Factory, Marduk, Combichrist, Ghoul, Ritual, and more to be announced!

In addition to the outstanding musical lineup, Blackest Of The Black will feature a slew of attractions including a Verotik/Comic Con area, a roaming freak show filled with contortionists, demons, and more, thrill rides, and a Sugar Skull Contest. The main attraction, Castle Danzig, is an interactive walk through with a number of activations. Within the vicinity of the eerie castle and courtyard, attendees will find a sacrifice altar, bondage stage, suspension stage, electro stage, blood bath, a padded cell, stocks, cage dancers, and more!

Los Angeles, CA, and Winter Park, FL, March 23, 2017 – The entire lineup for 2017’s Vans Warped Tour, presented by Journeys, was revealed yesterday via a LIVE webcast, direct from Full Sail Live, the state-of-the-art performance venue on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Fans in attendance were overjoyed to see the lineup for this year include not only current favorites and promising up and comers, but a deep list of legacy acts spanning the tour’s 23 year history. Blessthefall, Memphis May Fire, Jule Vera, Stacked Like Pancakes and Microwave also attended the live stream and performed during the webcast.

Now in its 23rd year, the Vans Warped Tour continues to solidify itself as the must attend festival over summer for rock and music lovers alike.

In the tradition of celebrating the tour’s musical roots, the lineup includes bands such as CKY, Sick Of It All, Municipal Waste, The Adolescents, Strung Out, T.S.O.L, Anti-Flag, Hatebreed and others, who are legends in the punk, hardcore and metal core world.

Returning this year is the Mutant Party Zone, which will provide festival-goers with two stages dedicated to heavy music from bands such as The Acacia Strain, Being As An Ocean, Blessthefall, Carnifex, Fit For A King, GWAR and any more.

The Vans Warped Tour has always been a place of music discovery and this year is no exception – the Full Sail Stage has up and comers like Boston Manor, Creeper, The Gospel Youth, Knocked Loose, Movements, and Trophy Eyes positioned to break this summer.

Overall, the tour continues to offer something for every fan, showcasing the best in pop punk, rock, hard core, hip-hop, dance and indie.

The Vans Warped Tour is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. Originally conceived by founder Kevin Lyman in 1995 as an eclectic alternative rock festival, with a focus on punk rock, over the years the tour has grown to include a multitude of genres, including metal, hip hop, reggae, pop and more. It remains one of the best tours to attend to discover emerging acts, to learn more about wonderful non-profits and companies who are working to make a positive impact on the world that surround them, and to meet like-minded friends.

“As we enter our 23rd year on the road, continuing our mission of music, philanthropy and education is what I look forward to most.  The Vans Warped Tour is not for all, but every summer I look forward to seeing those fans who do chose to come and engage and be a positive force in our community.” – Kevin Lyman

In addition, the tour continues to host a wide array of amazing non-profits and educational workshops for attendees. Teens With a Purpose, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Donate Life New England, Planned Parenthood, Keep A Breast, Testicular Cancer Foundation, and Project HEAL, just to name a few. Fans can see their favorite bands as well as become educated on these causes and how they can help.

Sierra Lyman comments, “Music has inspired change and social change has inspired music. Since its inception the Vans Warped Tour created a place where fans are not only inspired by their favorite artists, but also inspired to work with a cause they care about. This is pushed even further by opening up musicians to causes they never even knew about. By creating this community of nonprofits we are able to connect fans with their favorite musicians and also inspire some good in the world.”

The Entertainment Institute will return to the 2017 tour as well, hosting educational workshops and Q+A’s hosted by the industry’s most successful writers, artists, and photographers. A full listing of the guru’s hosting each workshop is available at http://www.thinktei.com/warpedtour

Tickets for this year’s tour on are sale now and can be purchased at vanswarpedtour.com

As a bonus for early ticket buyers, the first 500 tickets sold for each show will be at the lowest price available and will include a digital download of the Official Vans Warped Tour 50-song compilation.

This year, the Vans Warped Tour® presented by Journeys® forged a partnership with Valiant Entertainment to bring it’s award-winning library of comic book superheroes on the road and into an artwork and branding collaboration spanning the 2017 summer season.

“For 22 years, the Vans Warped Tour has been such a great platform for bands, brands, and creative minds,” said Vans Warped Tour® Founder Kevin Lyman. “It’s always fun to be able to do collaborations, and this partnership with Valiant Entertainment is very special from a creative standpoint.”

Multiple fan-favorite characters from Valiant’s 2,000-plus-strong library will make Warped Tour history as the centerpieces of the 2017 tour’s “comic book” theme. All summer long, Valiant’s most iconic heroes – including X-O Manowar, Faith, Bloodshot, Livewire, Ninjak, and more – will adorn posters, promotional pieces, merchandise, and more at over 40 tour dates across the United States.  The 2017 Vans Warped Tour® artwork was designed by acclaimed Valiant comic book artist Kano.

“This is a groundbreaking partnership on many levels, and we’re honored and excited to call the Vans Warped Tour our newest partner,” said Russell A. Brown, President of Consumer Products, Promotions & Ad Sales for Valiant Entertainment. “The Vans Warped Tour is an institution, and comics are the next logical extension of their hugely influential footprint. There’s a huge reciprocity between music and comics, and we were happy to find that there are just as many fans in their camp as there are in ours. We look forward to doing awesome things together in 2017 and beyond.”

Blast From The Past at the SiriusXM’s Hair Nation Festival

It was Rude, It was Sleazy, It was what the 80’s hair metal was all about back then. I am talking about the SiriusXM’s Hair Nation Festival at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, California and it saw the likes of Lita Ford, Vixen, Kix, Faster Pussycat, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Britny Fox to name a few of the 22 bands, An all day onslaught of 80’s & 90’s Hair Metal bands coming at you from two different stages with food, alcohol and merch booths for you to get your swag on, all hosted by Eddie Trunk.

Now I have been going to the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater since I was in High School to see a great many bands, I even snuck in over the back fence a time or two. When I heard about this show and that there is only a few more shows before the venue closes it’s doors for good, I just knew I had to go. One more trip down memory lane as they say…

Upon entering  the venue something that caught my attention was the Save the Music group who were collecting signatures for their petition to save the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater from being closed down.

One of the many surprises that were in store for those in attendance was seeing Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis playing together with LA Guns  for the first time since they parted ways and thanks to the Hair Nation Festival, they have scheduled many more shows that they will be playing together again.

Patrick Kennison, Guitarist for Lita Ford, filled in some mighty big shoes singing Ozzy’s parts with Lita on “Close Your Eyes”.  Also for Lita’s birthday, Eddie Trunk had a cake brought out on stage and had the audience sing Happy Birthday to Lita all while Lita was still trying to perform.

I caught up with Tommy Paris of Britny Fox and he took a few minutes to talk with me before  their Meet and Greet to fill me in on the current status of the band, new music and upcoming shows. Please click on the video below to get all the details.

Even as we say goodbye to the Irvine Amphitheater and sadly watch it close it’s doors, there is talk that a new venue is already in the works for a new location for next years 2nd Annual Hair Nation Festival. If you were unable to make it to this one, or even if you did, then I hope to see you at the next one.

Big thanks goes out to Ashley Di Buduo of A12 Entertainment and all their staff behind the scenes who helped to facilitate this little adventure of ours.

CALIFORNIA’S BIGGEST ROCK FESTIVAL RETURNS TO SACRAMENTO’S DISCOVERY PARK OCTOBER 22 & 23

LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT COMING JUNE 7

FESTIVAL PARTNERS WITH SACRAMENTO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF REGIONAL PARKS FOR “LIFE LOOKS GOOD ON YOU” PUBLIC SAFETY CAMPAIGN

Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK—California’s biggest rock festival—returns to Sacramento, California’s Discovery Park October 22 and 23 for its fifth year. Discovery Park is a 160-acre park conveniently located near downtown Sacramento, where the American and Sacramento Rivers meet.

Look for the band lineup, ticket information and other festival details to be announced on Tuesday, June 7 at Noon Pacific Time.

In 2015, a sold-out crowd of 45,000 was in attendance at Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK to experience four stages of the best hard rock, metal and alternative artists, along with gourmet food trucks and extensive onsite experiences. Loudwire.com called the festival “one of the nation’s premier music events.”

After holding 2015’s Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK at Gibson Ranch, the festival returns to Discovery Park in 2016. “Gibson Ranch was a beautiful place to hold last year’s Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK,” says Danny Hayes, CEO of Danny Wimmer Presents, producers of Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK. “But there is just something really special about Discovery Park and its proximity to downtown. It offers the best of both the gorgeous park setting and all the amenities of Sacramento.”

“We’re couldn’t be more excited that AFTERSHOCK is returning to Discovery Park, the festival’s original home in Sacramento,” said Mike Testa, COO of Visit Sacramento. “While showcasing the natural treasure of Discovery Park to visitors from across the United States, it also brings the attendees in closer proximity to our city and county hotels to maximize the festival’s millions of dollars in economic impact.”

“AFTERSHOCK is coming back bigger and better than ever! We’ve got some surprises in store that we can’t wait to announce,” says Clay Busch, VP of Marketing and Brand Partnerships for Danny Wimmer Presents.

Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Festival also announces its partnership with Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks for the Life Looks Good On You life jacket water safety campaign. “With Discovery Park located where the American and Sacramento rivers meet, promoting water safety is very important to us,” says Clay Busch, VP of Marketing for Danny Wimmer Presents.

Danny Wimmer Presents is pledging support with Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK alumni and DWP friends to create awareness for the Life Looks Good On You campaign. So far, music artists that have joined the efforts include Sacramento’s own Deftones, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Pop Evil, and Avatar. Below are some photos of band members wearing life jackets, which will be part of a social media campaign designed to encourage people to safely participate in water activities by sharing photos of themselves and friends wearing life jackets. Let me start off by stating that the M3 Rock Festival has been my personal favorite of the music festival season so being unbiased is probably not an option here.

That being said, I will get the negative out of the way quickly. The first negative is that with all festivals of any decent size, some bands get very short sets. They are barely able to warm up before their given time is up. Abbreviated sets force the bands to play only their best known cuts, much to the delight of many, but disappoints the die-hard fans. The only other notable negative is that time has not been the friendliest to a select few of these guys.

Michael Strong and Stephen Pearcy Band

However, almost every artist gave it their best, which made up for the shortcomings that a couple guys experienced. There was a total feeling of camaraderie in the crowd as well as on stage, which everyone seemed to feed on. Many strangers, arm in arm, partook in countless sing-a-longs, so out of key, even auto tune couldn’t save them. Nobody cared!

Jizzy Pearl (Quiet Riot) and Michael Strong

The crowd really enjoyed newcomers Gabbie Ray, Enuff Z’Nuff, Britny Fox, Lynch Mob and Vince Neil’s Band on Friday, but of course

Michael and Dana Strum

the night belonged to local favorites, Kix, as does every opening night at M3. As much as people went bananas Friday for all the bands’ hits from “New Thing” to “Girlschool” to “Wicked Sensation” to “Home Sweet Home” to “Cold Blood”, most paced themselves for Saturday’s early start.

Kerri Kelli (Night Ranger), Michael Strong, Mark Slaughter

Saturday started with a bang as Faster Pussycat, Heaven’s Edge and Every Mother’s Nightmare all proved that rock n roll can thrive any time of day. Faster Pussycat was an early day favorite, starting their set at 11:20 in their pajamas. That itself is shocking, since many would guess that Taime Downe sleeps in the nude. The early rising crowd was fully engaged for hits “House of Pain” “Slip of the Tongue” and all the other favorites they packed into a 25 minute set.

Steven Adler and Michael Strong

Another early favorite, Steelheart, complete with Milijenko Matijevic’s soaring vocals, really set the bar for the rest of the day when he effortlessly hit the notes of “I’ll Never Let You Go” . Adler’s set of GnR classics went over big .Steven Adler, with an ear to ear grin, seemed to be the happiest guy on stage all weekend.

Firehouse brought the lighters out in full force during what seemed to be everyone’s wedding song (first or second wedding, that is). Y&T as always deliver. Dave Meniketti”s voice sounds as great live as on 25-30 year old recordings. “Summertime Girls ” and “Don’t Stop Runnin'” put the crowd into an absolute frenzy!

Shannon Henkel and Michael Strong of MourningWagon

Quiet Riot were steady and powerful, with the criminally underrated Jizzy Pearl fronting them though all the QR favorites. Slaughter, featuring the most insane showman drummer, Zoltan Chaney, were not to be missed. I believe the band pulled double duty, backing Vince Neil on Friday. Zoltan completely steals the show with his crazy antics, but never missed a single beat.

Tesla

Saturday night basically featured 4 headliners, one after another. Night Ranger hit the stage, blasting through every hit you remember and even a Damn Yankees tune to boot. People forget the non-stop hit machine these boys were. From start to finish of their set, it was a 10,000 plus person sing-a-long. “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”, “Sing Me Away”, “When You Close Your Eyes” and the ubiquitous” Sister Christian” were all killer. The Rangers can still really sing and sincerely enjoy performing.

Ted Poley

Frankie Banali
Frankie Banali

Next up was Tom Keifer, the former voice of Cinderella. Tom tore the roof off of the still under renovation Merriweather Post Pavilion. Playing classic Cinderella tunes like “Shelter Me”, “Nobody”s Fool”, “Shake Me”, “Gypsy Road” and of course “Don’t Know What You Got” among others, he threw he crowd into an absolute frenzy. As if the crowd wasn’t rabid enough, good old Tom deftly covered “Purple Rain” in a tribute to Prince. That would be enough to close most shows, but we had two more acts to delight in.

Faster Pussycat

Queensyche had the unenviable task of following Mr. Keifer, but proved up for the challenge. Being the most “metal” band of the festivities, somewhat out of place, was not an issue for these guys. “Jet City ,Woman” and “I Don’t Believe in Love” went over big-time. New vocalist, helming the ‘Ryche for about 4 years, Todd LaTorre, is an undeniable powerhouse, breathing a new energy into a veteran unit

Britny Fox

Ok, full disclosure time, to say I love Tesla is like saying the sun rises in the east, sets in the west. It’s a fact of life. The perfect closer of the weekend for me. Tesla has never laid the proverbial egg on stage, nor did they at M3. Delivering song after song with an intensity, sense of pride and what appears to be an unbridled love, they were without doubt the most engaging band with the fans in a weekend long

Johnny D from Britny Fox and Doro

love-fest between the stage and seats. Jeff Keith’s smile might have only been outdone by the previously Steven Adler. Powering through a catalog that is unequaled by anyone, save the likes of Queen, Van Halen and Led Zep in the hard rock lexicon, Tesla fired on all

Zoltan Chaney, Michael and Kerri Kelli

cylinders. Every song was a showstopper, with the exception of “What You Give” which was as powerful and touching as anything you”ll ever hear in the live music arena. One song absolutely blew everything away from the whole festival.

M3If you love “hair metal” you have to put M3 on your bucket list. Overall, a very smoothly run festival. Very little dead time, music wise, but plenty of time to drink, mingle and make new friends, all while enjoying great music. That’s what a music fest is all about – killer tunes, great times and making new friends. See y’all next year!

Remember, it’s not what you got, it’s what you give.

Take Me Home Animal Rescue: Take Me Home is a not for profit, volunteer based foundation that has been saving the lives of homeless animals since 2001. Many families living in low-income areas cannot afford medical care, basic vaccinations, or spay/neuter surgeries for their companion animals. The donations raised help us to fund mobile veterinary hospitals to travel into these under-served areas to provide free spay and neuter, vaccinations, microchipping and administer medical care for animals in desperate need. Take Me Home also supports local animal charities and is making a donation to Friends of Jacksonville Animals with Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services. Come by the booth to help out our furry friends by buying a shirt and entering the 50/50 raffle. Danny Wimmer, Founder, DWP, said, “DWP is proud to support various charities, giving them a national platform to promote their messages. We are particularly fond of Take Me Home, which advocates for animal adoption. I hope everyone stops by their booth and supports their fundraising efforts to help animals in need by participating in the 50/50 lottery.” For more information, please visit: www.takemhome.tv.

We are the fake political party America needs right now and we’re stopping by Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion to supply ice cold beer all weekend long. Because no matter where we stand on the issues, we all sit on the bar stools with our hands raised in the air listening to our favorite rock bands.  America has seen the light, and there’s a Bud in front of it.

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival – July 18, 2015

Burgettstown, PA

First Niagara Bank Amphitheater

Little review from the Mayhem Festival

Andy LaRoucque (King Diamond) and Michael Strong

Some of the worlds heaviest and darkest artists took to the festival stage this day in what could be called a historic event. Armed with the artillery of guitars, drums and microphones the torment has been unleashed. Some of the key bands that were indeed crowd favorites

Code Red and Michael

were Slayer, and the almighty King Diamond. This complete lineup which also included acts Jungle Rot, Kissing Candice, Shattered Sun, Sister Sin, Sworn, In, The Devil Wears Prada, Thy Art is Murder, Code Orange, Feed Her To the Sharks, Hellyeah, and Whitechapel. This would be a great one off festival but it is a touring festival. The opportunity to see all these acts were made possibly around this country.

Michael Strong and Jeremy (The Devil Wears Prada)

We had the opportunity to meet and hang out with numerous acts and interviewed; Shattered Sun, The Devil Wears Prada, Andy Laroucque (King Diamond), Jungle rot, and Code Orange. This was indeed a success to talk with our old friends once again and to get caught up with them as well as help promote them and their music and merch. One of the big highlights was indeed to hang with old friend King Diamond, and Eric Wagner (the Skull/Trouble).

It seemed like the event was well rehearsed and no errors or malfunctions took place it was a nice metal festival and the fans were known to have been there from all over the world.

You can catch the interviews on our weekly broadcast the Maximum Threshold Radio Show right here on Saturday nights from 8-11pm ET maximumthreshold.net
